Daro (dah-ro) — Nepali for firm, strong.
Not a trend. Not a factory. Not a brand built in a boardroom.
Daro started in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh — not a fashion capital, not a metro city. Just a person with conviction, fabric, and a refusal to make something ordinary.
Every shirt begins with fabric.
We source pure cotton cambric and hand dye it using the shibori resist technique — a process where fabric is bound, twisted and folded before being submerged in dye. The binding creates the pattern. The pattern cannot be replicated by a machine. It cannot be printed. It only happens when human hands do the work.
Every piece comes out slightly different from the last. That is not a flaw. That is the whole point.
We use reactive dyes.
The fabric is dyed using professional reactive dyes — chosen for their intensity, their permanence, and their ability to create the deep saturated colours you see in every Daro piece.
The shibori patterns are achieved through hand binding and resist dyeing — a technique where fabric is folded, twisted and bound before dyeing. The binding creates the pattern. No two pieces come out identical. That is the nature of the process.
Batch 01 is fifty shirts.
Three colours. Three patterns. Each one hand dyed, hand finished, individually labelled. When they are gone they are gone — we do not restock batches. We move forward.
This is not a limited edition marketing trick. We genuinely make small batches because small batches are the only way to make something worth wearing.
The hardware is considered.
Antique copper ornate buttons. YKK cuff zip with hanging puller. Every detail chosen specifically for this collection — not whatever was cheapest or most available.
Daro is for people who dress with intention.
