About daro
Daro (dah-ro) - Nepali for firm, strong.
Daro works in small batches - each one different from the last. Batch 01 is dyed entirely with natural dyes from Bagru, Rajasthan.
Every shirt begins with fabric.
We source pure cotton cambric and hand dye it using the shibori resist technique - a process where fabric is bound, twisted and folded before being submerged in dye. The binding creates the pattern. The pattern cannot be replicated by a machine. It cannot be printed. It only happens when human hands do the work.
Every piece comes out slightly different from the last. That is not a flaw. That is the whole point.
We use natural dyes.
Natural dyes behave differently from synthetic ones. The colour is alive - it softens gradually with washing, develops its own character over time. A Daro shirt looks slightly different at six months than it did on day one. That evolution is not a defect. It is the nature of natural dye and the reason we chose it.
Batch 01 is fifty shirts.
Three colours. Three patterns. Each one hand dyed, hand finished, individually labelled. When they are gone they are gone - we do not restock batches. We move forward.
This is not a limited edition marketing trick. We genuinely make small batches because small batches are the only way to make something worth wearing.
Daro is for people who dress with intention.
